The Anglican Consort is especially looking forward to this Choral Evensong with music by Felix Mendelssohn which he wrote for Anglican worship: “O be joyful” (Jubilate) is the canticle for Mattins (Morning Prayer) and “Lord, now lettest thou” (Nunc dimittis) is one of the canticles for Evensong (Evening Prayer).

In Germany you may have heard the Nunc dimittis in German (“Herr, nun lässest du”) sung a capella. There is – very typical Anglican – an organ part though and that’s how we are performing on this evening.
